BioMed Central撤回43篇涉嫌造假学术论文(附原因剖析)

医学和科学学术文章的一个主要出版商BioMed Central已经撤回43篇文章,主要因为“莫须有”的同行评审。这直接暗示了可能存在为数不少的伪造同行评审,或对许多出版文章都将造成影响。 BioMed Central总部在英国,旗下有277个同行评议的期刊。撤回文章的部分名单显示大部分发表单位均在中国,包括中国医科大学,四川大学,山东大

医学和科学学术文章的一个主要出版商BioMed Central已经撤回43篇文章,主要因为“莫须有”的同行评审。这直接暗示了可能存在为数不少的伪造同行评审,或对许多出版文章都将造成影响。 

BioMed Central总部在英国,旗下有277个同行评议的期刊。撤回文章的部分名单显示大部分发表单位均在中国,包括中国医科大学,四川大学,山东大学和交通大学医学院。但BioMed Central副编辑主任Jigisha Patel表示:“这不代表中国学术状态。我们发表了很多来自中国的强大的研究成果。我们认为这是一个广泛的科学家们如何判断的问题。”同时,出版道德规范委员会—是由9000多位期刊编辑联合的组织,发表一份声明。该委员会表示说“已经意识到系统性,不适当的企图操纵不同的出版商刊物的同行评审过程”。这些期刊正重新审核手稿,以确定有多少可能需要撤回。有专门的人员已经统计出在过去几年BioMed Central因为假的同行评审共有170次撤消论文。 

同行审查是通过让同领域专家阅读手稿,批准或者不批准手稿出版,以保证学术文章的质量和完整性。研究人员对于被认可,文章引用和职业发展的需求日益迫切,使得整个同行审查制度在近年来出现许多缺陷和违规行为,轻则是糊弄随便的审查,再到任人唯亲,重则明目张胆的欺诈。
Patel表示:“假审稿问题是影响整个学术期刊出版。“造假”的行为包括笔者建议事先已经同意提供一个积极的评价的朋友做同行审查,或者有同行评审圈,圈内的作者都同意互相做同行评审,更有甚者伪造一个人,给予同行评审。从这些有问题的文章中,我们发现文章的作者似乎没有什么明显的联系,但是他们建议的审稿人却明显类似。表明可能存在第三方在提供些欺诈行为。”

Elizabeth Moylan,BioMed Central的资深编辑表示,从去年开始的调查揭示了一个有人通过建议“伪造”审稿人,以欺骗杂志的编辑。她写道,这些操作似乎是被一些提供的语言编辑和提交协助的机构来进行的。目前还不清楚,所涉及的手稿的作者是否知道这些机构提供了伪造的审稿人还是说其实是作者自己直接提出这些捏造名字。 

Patel在接受采访时表示,同行评审提交的报告“实际上是非常有说服力的。”BioMed Central起了疑心,是因为他们发现,这些在机构工作的科学家的电子邮件地址的模式非常奇怪。同样奇怪的是,同一科学家能审查不同的主题。大家都是高度专业的研究,所以这种情况很不正常。最终,他们找到了这些科学家,科学家表示并没有审这些稿。是有人使用顶替了他们的名字。

Patel还说这些天真的作者希望得到他们的稿件发表,他们通过支付的费用享受服务——修饰美化手稿,甚至保证发表。一些机构正在卖这种服务,从以作者身份写好稿件到提交伪造审稿人的联系方式,然后再顶替审稿人提供评论。 

大概过程如下:

让作者投稿时,“推荐”审稿人,实际上,审稿人的名字和单位是真实的,但是邮箱是假的(随便注册个yahoo或gmail之类,邮箱已被操纵了)-->期刊社便送稿件过去进行审稿-->修回(实际是虚的)-->发表。 

在MedSci论坛上,可以看到,除BMC系列外,实际上已有多本期刊被类似操纵,包括BBRC等!可以看这里:https://www.medsci.cn/sci/submit.do?id=92721030 另外,CELL BIOCHEM BIOPHYS 也可能被中国人操作了,见这里:https://www.medsci.cn/sci/submit.do?id=923a1355 ,MedSci大量网友早在几个月前就发现其中的猫腻,并进行了公开。但是更多的杂志还在调查中,这种现象,可能最早从几年前就开始。从被撤稿文章来看,主要集中于生物信息学分析、meta分析类文章。 

根除这种乱象的唯一办法,就是当事人认清,不能有投机取巧的想法,临床研究是真真实实的,来不得半点虚假!当然,如果没有这种行为,则不用任何担心,包括正常推荐审稿人,也是合理的。
