此外,研究人员还发现机械感应离子通道PIEZO1是OPC机械信号的关键介质。抑制体内PIEZO1所覆盖的机械信号,可维持OPCs在衰老的CNS中的活性。研究人员还发现PIEZO1在CNS发育中的细胞数量调控中具有重要作用。
