为此,来自斯坦福大学的Brian Feldman博士于日前研发了一种可快速对糖尿病类型做出判断的微芯片。据介绍,该微芯片通过确认病人血液中是否存在抗体来判定其得的究竟是1型还是2型的糖尿病。

而在传统诊断方法下,相关测试现必须要由经过特别训练的专业人员在实验室内进行,他们需要用到辐射材料、花费好几天时间得到实验结果,而且检测一次的费用也不低。

按照传统观念,1型糖尿病大多在青少年当中发病,而2型糖尿病主要集中在成年人。不过近几年,由于肥胖问题,越来越多的青少年也患上了2型糖尿病。这也是Fedlman博士要研发这么一款芯片的原因所在。

现在,人们不需要进行非常专业的训练就能在几分钟得到检测结果。据了解,该芯片的造价只需20美元,最多可重复使用15次。另外,待测者只需提供一滴血液即可。每块芯片的玻璃板上都镀上了一层纳米级别的金粒子阵列。它们的荧光信号将在遇到抗体的时候变强。
