这项持续30个月的临床随机试验是为了比较银二胺氟化物(SDF)在2个不同浓度(12%和38%)以及2个不同应用周期下(半年一次或一年一次)对阻止乳牙牙本质龋洞形成的疗效差异。研究选取了至少有一个成洞龋损年龄在3-4岁的儿童为试验对象，并将其随机分配至4个干预组。组1每年一次12% SDF治疗(每12个月)，组2每半年一次12% SDF治疗(每6个月)，组3每年一次38% SDF治疗，组4每半年一次38% SDF治疗。由1名检测者每半年于幼儿园进行一次临床检查，评估SDF治疗是否阻止了龋损进程。研究共对888名儿童的4220颗龋齿表面实施了SDF治疗，术后30个月，有799 (90.0%)名儿童共3790颗龋齿表面(89.8%)进行了检查。组1、2、3和4的龋损被阻止率分别为55.2%， 58.6%， 66.9%和75.7% ( P < 0.001)。接受38% SDF治疗的龋损进程被阻止的几率要明显高于接受12% SDF治疗的龋损(比值比[OR]， 1.98； 95%置信区间[CI]， 1.51-2.60， P < 0.001)。实施SDF治疗的频率与可视菌斑指数(VPI)
