目前，莫纳什大学 BDI研究人员已经确定了第一个关于如何"重组"抗生素，以对抗细菌征募来躲避救命药物的策略的重要线索，并发表在《mBio》杂志上。

研究人员在莫纳什大学Ramaciotti中心用最新一代电子显微镜观察了其在分子水平上的电子显微镜图像--这是第一次，在超级细菌中观察到对大多数现代抗生素产生了抗药性的变化。

他们从医院患者身上检查耐抗生素金黄色葡萄球菌或金黄色葡萄球菌的细菌样本，将不耐药菌株与国外同行的数据进行比较。其中包括NTU的Shashi Bhushan和Zohar Eyal和诺贝尔奖获得者，魏兹曼研究所的Ada Yonath教授，他在2009年获得了诺贝尔化学奖。

莫纳什BDI科学家和首席研究员Matthew Belousoff博士说："使用联合数据，我们可以合理地解释细菌是如何通过一种非常重要的医院抗生素来逃避药物治疗的，并在分子细节中描述它如何变成超级细菌。"

"细菌会变异或进化，从而改变分子的形状，从而使抗生素无法适应这种情况，"Belousoff博士说。
