研究人员从瑞典病人登记册中纳入了1965-2011年间行卵巢切除术的女性患者。计算并与一般人群相比本研究对象结直肠癌发病风险的标准发病率和95% 可信区间。根据单侧和双侧卵巢切除术，以及是否已摘除卵巢的子宫切除术进行分层。使用危险比来评估三种卵巢切除术与结直肠癌发病风险之间的关联，应用Cox比例风险回归模型计算95%可信区间。

结果共纳入了195973名行卵巢切除术的女性患者，其中3150名患者日后发生了结直肠癌（中位随访时间为18年）。与一般人群相比，行卵巢切除术的患者发生结直肠癌的风险增加。年轻时行卵巢切除术结直肠癌的发病风险较低。风险最高是在行卵巢切除术后的1-4年。多变量分析中，行双侧卵巢切除术的女性结直肠的发病风险较行单侧卵巢切除术的女性高。

总而言之，本研究结果表明，卵巢切除术可增加结直肠癌的发病风险。
