该报告在基因组生物学杂志上概述了一种称为Hi-C的技术的新应用,允许科学家将遗传物质排列在细胞内。通过分析这些信息,研究人员可以可靠地识别其他方法可能错过的主要遗传变化。这一切都比标准DNA测序方法更低。

Hi-C可以检测染色体重排 - 其中大部分的DNA在称为染色体的基因组之间交换或移动,以及拷贝数变异 - 遗传物质被复制或删除。这两个变化都可以对细胞的行为产生巨大的影响。

本文的第一作者Louise Harewood博士说:“染色体重排在一般人群和大多数癌症中都可以看到,患者染色体重排检测可能很麻烦,许多可以被遗漏,特别是有害的在肿瘤学中,重组可以起到诊断和预后作用。”
