用氯氮平N-氧化物（CNO; 0.3 mg / kg i.p.）刺激LdistalDq细胞增加了血浆GLP-1和PYY（分别为2.67和3.31倍）; 在血浆中无法测量INSL5，但它在体外与GLP-1和PYY共分泌。 IPGTT（2 g / kg体重）显示注射CNO后葡萄糖耐量明显改善。 经CNO处理的小鼠在24小时后还表现出食物摄入量减少和体重减少，排便增加，后者对5-羟色胺（5-HT）受体3抑制敏感。使用GLP1受体阻断抗体预处理，中和了CNO对葡萄糖耐量的改善，但不影响食物摄入量的减少，独立组动物对喂食CNO处理组，体重下降明显。用神经肽Y受体2型拮抗剂JNJ-31020028进行的预处理消除了CNO对食物摄入的依赖性。 对代谢笼中全身生理的评估显示LdistalDq细胞刺激增加了能量消耗并增加了活动。 高脂饮食2周后，可维持急性CNO诱导的食物摄入和葡萄糖稳态。

这一概念验证研究表明，选择性远端结肠L细胞刺激具有有益的代谢结果。
