癌症治疗后复发是一个常见的问题,也是导致癌症死亡的最大原因,这是因为初级肿瘤细胞通常包含抵抗治疗的癌细胞,这些癌细胞继续扩散,导致癌症的最终复发。

新的研究发表于《癌症研究》中,在研究报告中,科学家发现对疗法敏感的癌细胞会释放出一种名为PAF的片段肽。PAF可以使抵抗治疗的癌细胞灭亡,还能有效抑制转移性肿瘤的生长,此外,PAF只会进入到癌细胞中,对健康的细胞没有任何作用。

研究结果表明,这种自然产生的物质可以用来目标相邻或遥远癌症细胞,解决肿瘤转移和治疗抵抗的问题。

来自肯塔基大学与英国大学医学院的研究人员们在报道中指出:“在针对小鼠的试验中,我们发现PAF可以成功进入癌细胞内部,把抵抗治疗的癌细胞一网打尽的同时,又不会伤害小鼠健康的细胞。这一新的研究对医生如何计划他们的治疗起到了至关重要的作用,如何使用对疗法敏感肿瘤细胞释放的肽,来帮助消除耐药细胞。目前,我们正在发展可用于堵截抵抗治疗癌细胞转移的方法。”
