考虑到这些再评估的内容,研究者使用Meta分析对出版文献进行了综合分析。分析的主要内容包括在人类疾病及环境暴露因素中,对氧化应激损伤水平进行系统性的定量分类。

在这一项Meta分析中,F2-异前列环素、8-iso-PGF2α被特异地选为氧化性损伤的代表性标记。通过测量的方法和样本来整合文章的价值,8-iso-PGF2α水平的标准化平均的差异,包括受到影响的人群以及对照人群均计算在内。

这一Meta分析的目的在于对氧化性损伤水平进行分类,研究者选取50个健康人的结果与242种不同的出版物中有接触暴露因素的人群的8-iso-PGF2α水平测量做对比。8-iso-PGF2α水平的轻微增加与下列因素相关:高血压(g=0.4)、代谢综合征(g=0.5)、哮喘(g=0.4)、吸烟(g=0.7)。相反,在肾脏的病理中观察到了8-iso-PGF2α水平的大幅度的增加,例如慢性肾功能不全、睡眠窒息症、先兆子痫。同时在呼吸道疾病,例如囊性纤维化中,也发现了8-iso-PGF2α水平的大幅度的增加。

依据已发表的研究数据进行了综合性的Meta分析,研究者根据不同的疾病以及暴露因素,制定出了依据8-iso-PGF2α水平的定量分类标准。
