将SDF-1α装载在明胶海绵上并在体外测试SDF-1α的释放。随后，将SDF-1α构建体植入大鼠牙周缺损中1周和6周，以空载材料和空白作为对照。通过micro-CT，组织学和组织形态计量学分析评估再生功效。

体外结果显示有限的SDF-1α释放长达35天。体内试验中，SDF-1α在牙槽骨高度，新骨面积和功能韧带长度方面可显着改善牙周缺损再生。此外，SDF-1α构建体在第6周时降低了炎症反应。
