研究人员从社区招募了1799名受试者(年龄26-82岁)。用酶法测定GA，高效液相色谱法检测糖化血红蛋白A1c (HbA1c)。

向心性肥胖者GA和GA /糖化血红蛋白低于非向心性肥胖人群(P < . 01)。GA和GA /糖化血红蛋白与向心性肥胖负相关(P < . 01)，而糖化血红蛋白不相关(P = .833)。在正常血糖和高血糖亚群中，随着WC水平的增加，GA和GA / HbA1c呈下降趋势（趋势均为P <0.01）。 WC是GA的显着决定因素（P <.05）。在高血糖亚群中，无论是否存在向心性肥胖，WC的每5cm增量的GA值降低约0.15％。

研究表明，对于WC中每增加5cm，GA值减少约0.15％，这表明应该更多地关注肥胖人群中GA低估的实际血糖。
