研究人员观察到在该人群中变应性过敏的发病率很高。方法之间进行独立比较，则两方法之间的相互一致性是90%比92%。针对医生诊断的四种方法的灵敏度和特异性是0.77比0.88和0.97比0.99。在47%的过敏儿童中，微阵列方法提供给了与标准诊断法获取结果之间相比较的一些新信息。

“食物与呼吸道过敏的高发病率支持了临床指南的建议，即过敏应该在所有疑似哮喘的儿童中进行评估，”作者们写道。“与标准提取物为基础的方法相比，微阵列平台已经在47%的患者中提供了免疫球蛋白E的特征并论证了其可接受的准确性。”

有三位作者是Microtest Dx的员工，从而使得其中一种微阵列系统得以在研究中应用。
