研究使用EDM和CM锉。在5-mm半径、60°弯曲的模型中测试抗疲劳强度，并记录循环失效(Nf)的平均数量。依据ISO 3630-1的标准测试器械失效时的转矩和旋转角。新器械预处理至Nf的0%， 50%和75%时，进行扭力试验。其他新器械在疲劳试验前预负荷至平均旋转角的5%， 15%， 25%和50%。通过扫描电镜检查器械的折断表面。

结果显示，EDM器械的抗折断强度要高于CM器械(P < .05)。2者在折断时的转矩和旋转角相似。扭转预负荷在15%时会降低EDM的Nf (P < .05)，而在50%时会降低CM的Nf (P < .05)。然而，当施加50%的扭转预负荷时，EDM锉的Nf依旧显著高于未施加的CM锉(P < .05)。疲劳预负荷甚至增加至75%时，对EDM锉的转矩和旋转角都没有负面效应。对EDM适度的预循环(50%)可以增加它们的扭转阻力。另外，金属断面显微镜观察模式符合最后阶段测试所定义的模式。

结论：少量(15%)扭转预负荷即会减弱EDM的抗疲劳强度，而施加较高的(75%)循环疲劳预负荷却不会影响其抗扭转强度。
