多疣壁虎（Gekko japonicus）的基因序列发表在了本周的Nature Communications上。该研究由中国南通大学、深圳华大基因、中科院成都生物研究所和James D. Watson基因组科学研究所（杭州）的联合课题组共同完成。

此项研究是迄今为止规模最大的爬行动物基因组测序，定位了与壁虎爬上光滑的表面、重生尾巴和晚间惊人视力的相关基因。

南通大学神经再生重点实验室的顾晓松和他的研究团队，对于一只成年雄性壁虎进行了全基因组测序，获得了一个25.5亿对碱基的基因组序列。这当中，有22487个基因，他们确定了它们的位置和功能。他们发现了β-角蛋白基因家族的规模增加，这被认为和壁虎有黏性的脚底触毛的形成有关。而这种爬行足底的毛，让壁虎能够捕捉猎物，并且黏附在光滑表面上。

研究团队还分析了与尾巴再生相关的基因的演化，并且确定了与这些动物从昼行转化成夜行生活方式相关的特定基因，这些基因被称为视蛋白基因。这些研究结果有助于深入了解壁虎的演化史，也可能有助于仿生粘合技术的发展，以及帮助我们理解再生过程的遗传基础。
