我国科研人员提出人体肺部气体磁共振快速成像新技术

我国研究团队基于自主研发的科学仪器,提出人体肺部的快速成像新技术,实现目前世界上最快的肺部气体磁共振成像(MRI)高分辨动态采样速率。

中国科学院武汉物理与数学研究所4月16日透露,该所波谱与原子分子物理国家重点实验室周欣研究团队基于自主研发的科学仪器,提出人体肺部的快速成像新技术,实现目前世界上最快的肺部气体磁共振成像(MRI)高分辨动态采样速率,为肺部重大疾病的早期诊断提供新利器。

肺部重大疾病(如肺癌、慢性阻塞性肺疾病)严重威胁人类健康。MRI是一种重要的临床医学影像学技术,与胸透、CT和PET等方法相比具有无放射性的优点。然而,肺部大部分是空腔组织的特性,导致肺部成为常规MRI的盲区。

周欣介绍,不同肺疾病的生理学和病理生理学特征会导致不同的通气模式,通过观测肺的通气模式能有效解释肺通气缺陷的病因。但是,目前已有技术难以精准刻画肺部通气的动态过程。因此,亟需发展对肺部通气的动态可视化的新技术。

周欣团队基于武汉物数所独立自主研发的超极化氙-129人体肺部MRI仪器,实现了对肺部气体交换的可视化观测,“点亮”了肺部。研究人员进一步发现,当超极化氙-129气体连续不断地进入人体肺部时,将产生对图像质量具有较大影响的气体流入效应。

周欣解释说,该效应在采样过程中对超极化气体信号产生干扰,类似于高通滤波,而在图像重建过程中则引入额外的噪声和伪影,从而降低图像的信噪比。这是肺部通气动态过程难以精准刻画的一个重要因素。

为了发展快速高分辨人体肺部气体MRI技术,研究人员设计了一种基于变角激发(VFA)的欠采样策略,同时结合低秩、稀疏等动态图像特性,大幅提高信号采集速度和质量。

周欣表示,与现有的世界上超极化氙-129肺部动态成像方法相比,该技术达到人体肺部气体MRI的时间分辨率445毫秒/层,空间分辨率3毫米,为肺部重大疾病的早期诊断提供了自由呼吸状态下的快速、动态肺部功能成像。
