早在2011年在《美国医学会杂志》上发表的一项研究强调一种低胆固醇食物的组合,该饮食组合比低饱和脂肪酸的素食模式更能降低LDL-C,即所谓的“坏”胆固醇。

该低胆固醇食物的组合包括可溶性纤维、坚果、大豆蛋白和植物甾醇(在水果、蔬菜、坚果和谷物中获取)。   
 
近期,欧洲糖尿病研究协会(EASD)对该饮食组合的效果进行了荟萃分析。纳入7项研究,涉及439名高脂血症受试者。
 
具体来说,该饮食组合包括每天摄入42克坚果、20克可溶性纤维、2克植物甾醇和50克植物蛋白。
      
总的来说,该分析发现,坚持使用者四类食物会降低总胆固醇水平,以及甘油三酯、血压和C-反应蛋白水平。该饮食组合可使胆固醇降低17%  。
 
该饮食组合使LDL-C降低了17%,十年冠心病的风险降低13%。
