到目前为止,还没有完全了解到2型糖尿病的分子机制、基础和发展。这个新发现很重要,因为它证明了在细胞水平上发生了什么,以及糖尿病和胰岛素抵抗是如何发生的。

这项研究已经在《科学报告》杂志上发表。

研究结果显示,在一些年轻和年老的患者中,由于特定氨基酸的代谢受到不利影响,氨基酸,细胞的构建块,在2型糖尿病发病中起着促进作用。

这项研究对老年和年轻的2型糖尿病患者的骨骼肌和血浆进行了测试。它研究了一组特定的氨基酸,称为分支链氨基酸(BCCA)。

结果发现,与没有糖尿病的肥胖个体相比,2型糖尿病患者的BCCA代谢基因表达受损。这些结果表明,细胞对氨基酸的处理能力的改变可能是导致2型糖尿病发展的一个重要因素。

美国国家细胞生物技术研究所的临时主任、3U糖尿病协会负责人Donal O' gorman在评论研究结果时表示:
