辣椒是地中海饮食常用的调料，目前关于辣椒的摄入与死亡风险的相关性研究上缺乏。本研究的目的旨在大型意大利人群中探究辣椒的摄入与死亡风险的相关性。本研究纳入分析了Moli-sani临床研究中22811名参与者，根据辣椒的摄入量分为≤2次/周、2-4次/周和＞4次/周。经过平均8.2年时间的随访，共有1236名参与者出现死亡，相对于≤2次/周组，＞4次/周组的全因死亡和心源性死亡HR分别为0.77 (9

本研究纳入分析了Moli-sani临床研究中22811名参与者，根据辣椒的摄入量分为≤2次/周、2-4次/周和＞4次/周。经过平均8.2年时间的随访，共有1236名参与者出现死亡，相对于≤2次/周组，＞4次/周组的全因死亡和心源性死亡HR分别为0.77 (95% [CI]： 0.66-0.90) 和0.66 (95% CI： 0.50-0.86)。辣椒摄入2-4次/周同样与缺血性心脏病和脑血管病发生呈负相关。辣椒摄入与死亡风险的相关性在无高血压人群中更明显。另外，在已知的心血管生物标志物中，只有血清维生素D可能参与这种相关性。

研究结果显示，常规的辣椒摄入与降低的心脑血管疾病发生风险呈独立相关性。
