The guideline group was selected to be representative ofUK-based medical experts and patient’s representatives.MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched systematically forpublications in English from 1980–2010 using the keywords follicular lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma andlow-grade lymphoma. The writing group produced thedraft guideline, which was subsequently revised by consensusby members of the Haemato-oncology Task Force ofthe British Committee for Standards in Haematology(BCSH). The guideline was then reviewed by a soundingboard of approximately 50 UK haematologists, the BCSHand the British Society for Haematology Committee andcomments incorporated where appropriate. The objectiveof this guideline is to provide healthcare professionals withclear guidance on the management of patients withfollicular lymphoma. The guidance is not appropriate forpatients with other lymphoma subtypes and in all casesindividual patient circumstances may dictate an alternativeapproach.
