The Journal of Separation Science (JSS) is the most comprehensive source in separation science, as all areas of chromatographic and electrophoretic separation methods are covered. This includes fundamentals, instrumentation and applications, both in analytical and preparative mode. Journal of Separation Science: A Tradition of Excellence.
JSS continues the Journal of High Resolution Chromatography (HRC) and - since 2002 - the Journal of Microcolumn Separations (JMS).

Journal Features & Highlights:

  • JSS is peer reviewed
  • The Journal of Separation Science publishes special issues focused on hot topics in the separation science. This tradition will continue in the years to come. Until now, these special issues were always published in a single printed issue.
This first issue of the 36th volume you have in hand (or on the screen) is special for two reasons. First, it collects papers submitted by the International Editorial Board members, devoted to their works to show what they are doing in their labs. The other reason is that this is the last printed special issue.
In future, we plan to proceed special issues differently, because we are living in an electronic era. Why not to make an advantage of that? Thus, beginning from 2013, all manuscripts submitted for publication in special issues will be published individually in regular issues directly after acceptance. The first page of these papers will show a footnote saying that that paper is included in a virtual special issue. Of course, all papers published with this footnote will be immediately collected in the virtual special issue on a given topic accessible through the internet. This concept rules out possible delays in publication for contributors who submit their high quality manuscripts early. In addition, the internet papers may also include a number of other features that are difficult to accommodate in the printed issues or cannot be published at all such as colored figures, photos, audio, video, etc. For 2013, we plan to have virtual special issues on the following topics: MonolithsHILICTraditional Chinese Medicines, and Sample Preparation in Biomedicine. Since we are not going to have real “special issues”, there is no need for any hard deadlines for submission. However, we do not plan to collect manuscripts forever and only manuscripts published within a certain period of time will be included the virtual special issues.
