减肥老反弹?都怪肠道细菌

由以色列魏茨曼科学研究所的 Eran Elinav 带领的科学家团队利用小鼠研究为什么减肥会适得其反。

他们发现,高脂和低脂饮食的循环会改变小鼠肠道菌群的平衡,导致体重更容易增加。

并未参与该工作的澳大利亚悉尼大学药理学家 Margaret Morris 认为这项研究“非常有前途”,她说:“我们才刚刚开始了解肠道细菌可能有多重要。”

全球大约有44%的成年人体重超重,这项研究为我们在减肥后怎样保持健康的体重提供了关键的线索。

小鼠体内菌群和体重之间的联系已经得到确认,高脂饮食让菌群倾向于转化成“坏”细菌。但是很少有人会在体重减少后检查肠道细菌成分。如果一只高脂饮食喂养的小鼠恢复正常饮食并且体重开始减少,那么它体内被打破的菌群平衡会自行恢复么?

为找到答案,Elinav 和他的同事用高脂饮食喂养小鼠,不出所料,小鼠们变得过度肥胖。之后,这些过胖小鼠中的一部分进行正常饮食,它们随之恢复到最初体型。

经多次循环上述喂养方式,研究者发现,每次当高脂-正常饮食的小鼠恢复到最初体重时,它们的耗氧量、能量消耗和其他肥胖指标均恢复到了正常值,但是它们在每个饮食循环里净增长的体重多于一直保持高脂饮食的小鼠。

那么是什么导致了多余的增重?答案或许在于跟肠道细菌相互作用的一种化合物——黄酮类化合物。黄酮类化合物是一种重要而复杂的营养成分,可能影响着脂肪的使用和储存,并有抗氧化的作用。

当研究者观察过度肥胖小鼠的菌群时,发现它们利用的黄酮类化合物更少。这可能是因为高脂饮食中缺乏黄酮类化合物,同时也可能因为小鼠体内菌群结构的转变破坏了有益的黄酮类化合物。并且当小鼠回归正常饮食并减轻体重后,体内菌群对食物中黄酮类化合物的作用关系并没有随之恢复。

Elinav说,但当采用了含黄酮类化合物膳食补充剂后,就“完全弥补了这种缺乏并抑制了体重的过分反弹”。

所以这对于那些正在经历“悠悠球效应”的节食人士意味着什么呢?

研究者发明了一套仅基于菌群的算法,能够精确预测小鼠体重将反弹多少。

“如果这个算法能应用于人,将意味着我们可以依据人们的肠道细菌,告诉那些成功减肥的人士,如果他们恢复到之前的高脂饮食方式的话,他们的体重将会反弹多少。”Elinav说道。

尽管实验是基于小鼠的,但 Morris 强调了这项工作的真实性,因为“动物是不会撒谎的”,因此,小鼠肠道菌群和越来越多的体重增加的关系确实为研究人类中潜在的相似关系奠定了很好的基础。

接下来,研究者们希望研究人类的微生物群落在“悠悠球效应”的减肥中是否也存在类似的模式。
