Nat Med :糖尿病患者的福音,人工智能治病不比医生差

那么,能否利用人工智能帮助患者调整胰岛素剂量呢?以色列 Schneider 儿童医学中心Moshe Phillip 课题组测试了基于自动化人工智能的决策支持系统(AI-DSS)的胰岛素剂量调节效果,其研究成果题为“Insulin dose optimization using an automatedartificial intelligence-based decision support system in youths with type 1diabetes”, 2020年9月9日发表于国际知名学术期刊《自然—医学》。

这项多中心、跨国、平行、随机对照、非劣效性的研究被称为 ADVICE4U。该项目纳入了108位10-21岁、使用胰岛素泵治疗的1型糖尿病患者,研究时长6个月。

研究流程

患者被随机平均分为两组,每三周调整一次胰岛素剂量。其中,一组接受AI-DSS的胰岛素剂量调整,为AI-DSS组;另一组在医师指导下进行调整,为医师组。研究人员发现,两组患者血糖达标时长、血糖值低于54mg/dl(<3.0mmoll-1)的读数百分比均无显着差异。但是,在医师组患者中出现了3次不良事件(两个严重的低血糖,一个糖尿病性酮症酸中毒),而AI-DSS组未报告上述情况。

总而言之,这项非劣效性设计的研究得到了正面结果:使用人工智能来调整胰岛素泵与专业内分泌科医生相比并不逊色。

当前,越来越多的患者依赖胰岛素泵进行治疗,但专业内分泌科医生相对短缺。对于需要频繁调整胰岛素泵设置的患者来说,此研究提供了一种新的解决方案,为糖尿病患者带来了福音。
