鉴于PPARγ激动剂在降低炎症和降低血糖方面的已知特性,最近,研究人员在Aging Cell杂志发文,研究了PPARγ激动剂在预防衰老和增加寿命方面的效果。其分子和生理学研究表明,14月龄的小鼠长期接受低剂量的PPARγ配体罗西格列酮(Rosi)治疗,可以改善葡萄糖代谢和线粒体功能。这些作用与炎症减少和组织萎缩减轻、认知功能改善、焦虑和抑郁样症状减轻有关,而对心脏和骨骼功能没有任何不良影响。

此外,小鼠14月龄时开始的罗西格列酮治疗与寿命延长有关。对PPARγ激动剂吡格列酮(Pio)对寿命影响的回顾性分析显示,与接受PPARγ依赖性胰岛素分泌剂格列美脲相比,接受Pio的患者死亡率下降。

综上所述,这些数据提示了使用PPARγ激动剂促进健康衰老和延长寿命的可能性。
