如果批准，Epidiolex(大麻二醇)将是第一个提纯的、基于植物的CBD药物，它是一种大麻素，与大麻相关度不高，并且是第一个新的抗癫痫药物(AEDs)。

LGS和Dravet综合征是儿童期发作性癫痫的破坏性形式，具有高发病率和死亡率，并对家庭和护理人员造成重大负担。超过90％的LGS或Dravet综合征患者每天有多次癫痫发作，这使他们处于跌倒和受伤的危险之中。

临床试验表明，任何一种情况服用Epidiolex的患者每月癫痫发作率均显着降低，而该药物通常具有良好的耐受性，大多数不良事件报告为轻度或中度。
