缺乏特定抗体,导致新冠病毒在全球的快速传播。目前全世界累计感染人数逼近2亿大关,死亡人数已超过420万。

中和抗体对这新冠肺炎具有重要的保护作用,但人们发现协同细胞免疫应答对抵抗感染也很重要。相比起成人,儿童的新冠病毒感染通常导致病症较轻,但其背后的免疫应答机制尚不明确。

2021年7月29日,香港大学的研究人员在 Nature Communications 期刊发表了题为:SARS-CoV-2 specific T cell responses are lower in children and increase with age and time after infection 的研究论文。

该论文详细讨论了感染新冠病毒(SARS-CoV-2)的儿童和成人免疫应答的差异。这项研究提供了证据,表明了儿童相比成人为何往往症状较轻。

研究团队评估了香港6个月内24名感染新冠病毒的儿童和45名成人的免疫响应,并将另有一组未感染成人作为对照。

研究团队观察到,与成人相比,儿童感染者对新冠病毒的T细胞应答较低。

作者还发现儿童对其他乙型冠状病毒(例如导致普通感冒的病毒)的抗体水平比成人低,表明儿童和成人存在不同的免疫基线水平。作者认为,儿童缺乏成人对乙型冠状病毒的预存免疫,加上较低的T细胞活性,或导致儿童患上的新冠肺炎较轻。

作者总结道,尽管尚需进一步研究才能理解T细胞在新冠肺炎中的保护作用,但这些发现或有助于我们理解成人和儿童的不同免疫应答。
