饮食中的抗氧化剂或可降低帕金病的风险

 

帕金森病是第二大常见的神经退行性疾病,其主要特征是多巴胺缺乏,从而导致经典的运动症状。虽然机制尚未完全清楚,但氧化应激是反应性活性氧物(ROS)水平过高的前提,可能在帕金森病导致多巴胺能细胞丧失的发病机制中起着核心作用。

此外,大脑中含有多不饱和脂肪酸,在氧化应激条件下产生脂质过氧化和毒素。饮食中的抗氧化剂能够清除ROS,因此,可能会保护神经元免受损伤。有一些证据表明,维生素E的摄入可能会降低帕金森病的风险,但维生素C和β-胡萝卜素的研究结果仍不一致。

膳食中的抗氧化剂会相互作用,它们由许多其他具有氧化还原特性的化合物组成,如植物化学物质。因此,单一的营养素方法不能说明生物相互作用。非酶抗氧化能力(NEAC),也称为总抗氧化能力(TAC),是一种能够捕捉饮食中抗氧化潜力的措施,同时还能兼顾到到它们之间的协同作用。迄今为止,只有一项研究调查了膳食NEAC对帕金森病风险的影响,但未发现两者的关系。

为了进一步研究膳食抗氧化剂对帕金森病风险的影响,米兰比可卡大学的Essi Hantikainen等人,前瞻性地研究瑞典队列中膳食维生素E、C、β-胡萝卜素、NEAC与帕金森病风险的关系。

基于瑞典的队列中,从1997年至2016年,对43,865名18-94岁的男性和女性进行了跟踪调查。通过基线收集的有效食物频率问卷评估了基线膳食维生素E、C和β-胡萝卜素以及NEAC摄入量。所有暴露变量均根据能量摄入量进行调整,并归入分位数。多变量Cox比例危险回归模型被拟合,以估计帕金森病的危险比(HRs)和95%置信区间(CIs)。

结果显示,经过平均17.6年的随访时间,有465例确诊为帕金森病。在多变量调整模型中,当比较受试者在暴露的最高和最低分位数时,膳食维生素E(HR=0.68)和C(HR:0.68)与帕金森病的风险成反比。膳食中β-胡萝卜素或NEAC的估计摄入量没有发现关联。

这个研究的的重要意义在于,表明了膳食中维生素E和C的摄入量可能与帕金森病的风险成反比,但和膳食中的β-胡萝卜素或NEAC没有关联。
