已有的研究显示,脂肪组织嗜酸性粒细胞(ATEs)在控制肥胖相关的炎症和代谢疾病方面非常重要。然而,至今为止,我们对于衰老如何影响ATEs调节作用的方式仍然未知。

已有的研究显示,脂肪组织嗜酸性粒细胞(ATEs)在控制肥胖相关的炎症和代谢疾病方面非常重要。然而,至今为止,我们对于衰老如何影响ATEs调节作用的方式仍然未知。

在这里,研究人员发现,ATEs在人类和小鼠中的分布和功能会发生与年龄相关的重大变化,与脂肪组织稳态受损和系统性低级炎症有关。

研究人员发现,暴露在年轻的系统环境中,可以部分恢复老年组织中的ATE分布,并减少脂肪组织炎症。将年轻小鼠的嗜酸性粒细胞转移到老年受体中可以恢复ATE的分布,并足以抑制与年龄相关的局部和全身低级炎症。

重要的是,通过嗜酸性粒细胞转移恢复年轻的系统环境,可以帮助老年宿主的系统恢复年轻化,表现为身体和免疫力的改善,这部分是由嗜酸性粒细胞衍生的IL-4介导的。

这些发现共同支持了脂肪组织作为促衰老因子来源的关键功能,并揭示了嗜酸性粒细胞在维持脂肪组织稳态,以促进健康衰老方面的新作用。
