Oncogene:睾酮缺失损伤抗肿瘤中性粒细胞功能

在男性中,黑色素瘤的发生率在年龄超过50岁后迅速增加,并且黑色素瘤三分之二的死亡为男性。免疫系统在控制恶性肿瘤的生长和传播中具有关键的作用,但是是否年龄和性别依赖的免疫细胞功能的变化对上述作用有影响仍旧未知。

最近,有研究人员展示了在去势雄性小鼠中,中性粒细胞的成熟和功能受损,导致2个黑色素瘤模型转移负担增加。睾丸酮替代能够有效的使去势雄性小鼠中肿瘤负担正常化。更多的是,中性粒细胞异常的表型在接受雄激素阻断治疗的前列腺癌患者中出现,表明了该表型的进化保守性和临床相关性。

最后,研究人员指出,他们的结果为雄激素信号在中性粒细胞中的作用以及该生物学过程对恶性肿瘤免疫控制的影响提供了更好的认识。
