研究人员发现染色体不稳定性（整个人类染色体或染色体部分被复制或删除）可以预测哪些患者将从阿瓦斯汀中获益最多。

阿瓦斯汀（Bevacizumab，Avastin）是重组的人源化单克隆抗体。2004年2月26日获得FDA的批准，是美国第一个获得批准上市的抑制肿瘤血管生成的药。通过体内、体外检测系统证实IgG1抗体能与人血管内皮生长因子（VEGF）结合并阻断其生物活性。通常用于乳腺癌、结直肠癌和眼部疾病的治疗。其常见的不良反应事件包括贫血、疼痛、高血压、腹泻和白细胞减少。

研究人员发现染色体不稳定性（整个人类染色体或染色体部分被复制或删除）可以预测哪些患者将从阿瓦斯汀中获益最多。爱尔兰皇家外科医学院（RCSI）的研究人员与ANGIOPREDICT研究联盟内的国际研究人员合作进行的该项试验。这项研究的意义在于，通过事先知道哪些患者不会从阿瓦斯汀中获益，个体便可以免受这种药物的副作用，并且更有可能以最小的延迟接受的最佳治疗，同时降低护理成本。
