Lancet Psychiat:睡眠紊乱还会增加抑郁风险?

我们体内的生物钟,也叫做昼夜节律,几乎决定着身体内的所有生物过程,包括睡眠、饮食和血压等。它也决定着你的睡眠类型,也就是说你在一天的24小时中能睡多久。人们通常被分为“夜猫子”和“早起鸟”两类,分别指的是晚睡晚起的人和早睡早起的人。

你的生物钟是先天生物学因素决定的,也就是说你没办法改变它。如果你是夜猫子,你也许一辈子都这样了,你所能做的只是学习如何应对这种情况。

这也意味着自然的昼夜节律被打乱是一件非常糟糕的事情。比如,你会在短期内感觉浑身无力,毫无动力,而从长远来看,一些研究表明这可能会增加阿尔兹海默症的风险。

根据一篇近日发表在《柳叶刀·精神病学》上的研究,被扰乱的生物钟还会增加抑郁、双相情感障碍及其他情绪问题的风险。

格拉斯哥大学的研究人员在英国招募了91105名受测人员。他们佩戴活动监测设备一周,以观察他们的生物钟是如何受到干扰的。如果他们在晚上高度活跃,而在白天没有精神,则被认为发生了一次睡眠紊乱。

相比于那些作息规律(白天活跃,晚上睡觉)的人,睡眠紊乱发生次数多的人被诊断患有情绪紊乱的概率高出6%至10%。

昼夜节律紊乱还与幸福感降低、较高的神经质和孤独感、健康满意度降低、较多的情绪波动和反应时间变慢等有关。

该研究的第一作者Laura Lyall说,这是迄今为止最大型的研究,旨在确定身体时钟紊乱与心境障碍之间的关系。

然而,这些结果并不能揭示出生物钟紊乱是否会导致精神疾病,或者是否会导致精神病症状。因为精力水平的变化和睡眠紊乱是抑郁或躁郁症的常见症状。这是科学家们可以继续进行的一个研究领域。

精神病学教授Daniel Smith说:“接下来的工作是,确定引起生物钟紊乱的基因和环境因素使个体患抑郁症和双相情感障碍风险上升的机制。这对于全世界来说都非常重要,因为在城市环境中,越来越多的人都面临着生物钟紊乱的风险,并进一步导致不良心理健康的结果。”

昼夜节律是一个非常重要的研究领域,它对于生命来说非常重要,因为它是随着时间进化的,使我们能够适应一天中的不同时间阶段,调节我们的激素、行为、睡眠、体温和代谢,使这些生物过程与时间保持同步。
