这就提出了一个问题:HB的红系特异性表达是否也独立进化了两次。

迄今为止,在所有研究过的有颌脊椎动物中,有一个Hb基因簇与广泛表达的Npr13基因相关。

在本研究中,研究人员证明了无颌脊椎动物(七鳃鳗)的npr13连锁的hb基因位点与有颚脊椎动物的等位Hb基因位点共享一系列的结构和功能特性。

功能分析表明,七鳃鳗npr13基因第7个内含子上存在一个红系特异性的增强子,与颌类脊椎动物的NPRL3第7个内含子中的MCS-R1增强子相对应。

总而言之,该研究结果表明,在无颌脊椎动物和有颌骨脊椎动物分化之前,存在一个npr13连锁的多珠蛋白基因位点,该基因位点包含一个远程增强子,驱动红系细胞珠蛋白表达。这个原始的基因簇逐渐进化到目前无颚和颌脊椎动物中不同的nprl3连锁hb基因。该研究结果为揭开不同物种中连接到同一相邻基因的珠蛋白基因如何汇聚进化这一谜团提供了解决方案。
