首先,研究人员在其细胞核和血管壁结构纤维上加入荧光标记,血管壁可以阻挡外来颗粒并封住血液、血浆和免疫细胞。研究人员接来下用视频显微镜跟踪了这一过程。他们发现,血管细胞并非此前认为的切开小口的细胞。取而代之的是,免疫细胞会穿过血管壁。

通过软化其体积较大的细胞核并将其推动到细胞前缘,白细胞能够用探针分开血管壁中的过渡支架然后挤入其内部,研究人员在1月17日在线发表于《细胞报告》的论文中报告了这一成果。

这个过程会折断像纺线一样形成血管壁活动支架的更细小的纤维。随后作为常规细胞维持的一部分,这些细胞会轻而易举地修复那些裂痕。研究人员希望利用他们的发现更好地了解转移性癌细胞如何迁徙到血液内部并在整个机体中散播癌症。
