血清促甲状腺激素(TSH)浓度是诊断算法中的一线检测指标。估计TSH参考区间(RIs)目前仍有争议，因为亚临床疾病的高发病率使难以界定真正健康的受试者。本研究的目的是估计健康受试者的TSH RIs，并评估年龄和性别对TSH浓度的影响。

血清促甲状腺激素(TSH)浓度是诊断算法中的一线检测指标。估计TSH参考区间(RIs)目前仍有争议，因为亚临床疾病的高发病率使难以界定真正健康的受试者。本研究的目的是估计健康受试者的TSH RIs，并评估年龄和性别对TSH浓度的影响。

2012年7月至2018年4月期间，巴勒莫大学-医院检验医学部收集了大量的TSH数据。排除15岁以下的个体、重复TSH检测的受试者以及游离甲状腺素(fT4)、游离三碘甲状腺氨酸(fT3)或抗甲状腺过氧化物酶抗体异常的受试者后，用Arzideh间接法估计常见和性别特异性RIs。评价年龄和性别对TSH值的综合影响。

在被选择的个体(n = 22602)中RIs分别为0.18-3.54 mIU/L(一般)、0.19-3.23 mIU/L(男性)和0.18-3.94 mIU/L(女性)。女性TSH中位数明显高于男性(1.46比1.39 mIU/L;p < 0.0001)。无论男性还是女性，TSH中值均随年龄下降；然而，尽管在60岁之前男性和女性都表现出相似的趋势，但之后女性的TSH持续高于男性。因此，统计分析显示性别与年龄之间存在显著的交互作用(p = 0.001)，提示年龄对TSH的影响在性别间存在差异。研究表明，间接方法，并结合适当的数据过滤，可能会有益于定义TSH RIs。
