Brain Behav Immun:肠道微生物从娃娃抓起

肠道微生物群是研究人类发育和健康时需要考虑的重要生物学因素。

肠道微生物群似乎在人类健康和疾病中扮演着重要的角色。然而,对于肠道微生物群的可变性如何在大脑和行为发育的早期和敏感阶段造成个体差异,我们知之甚少。Caroline M. Kelsey等在Brain Behav Immun发表的文章研究检查了新生儿肠道微生物群、大脑和行为之间的联系。

该研究招募了63名新生儿(平均年龄25天,中位年龄24天,年龄范围9-56天),男:女=37:26。用元基因组测序方法测量婴儿肠道微生物群多样性,用静息状态功能近红外光谱(rs-fNIRS)程序评估婴儿功能性脑网络连通性,用父母报告评估婴儿行为气质。

肠道微生物区系的组成与大脑网络连通性的个体变异性有关,又反馈介导了婴儿行为气质的个体差异,特别是负面情绪性。此外,毒力因子(可能指示致病活性)与大脑网络连通性的差异与负面情绪有关。

(A)理论化的中介模型,其中肠道微生物多样性通过其对大脑功能连接性的影响间接影响行为气质,(B)显示了中介模型中概述的路径的相应统计值。

这些发现为肠道微生物-脑轴的早期发育起源及其与重要行为特征变异性的关系提供了新的见解。这表明,肠道微生物群是研究人类发育和健康时需要考虑的重要生物学因素。

总而言之,目前的研究为肠-脑轴的研究提供了新的见解,并支持肠道微生物组成和新生儿大脑功能连接之间的联系已经存在。这些发现为早期出现的功能性大脑网络和行为特征的个体差异的微生物起源提供了新的线索,并为未来旨在检验这种肠-脑行为相关性对精神健康结果的长期影响的研究提供了基础。
