绿茶及其主要成分表没食子儿茶素-3-没食子酸酯（EGCG）有很强的抗炎作用，对炎症性疾病和癌症均有一定的保护作用，大量的动物及人体细胞学研究都支持这个观点。EGCG口服后的吸收率很低导致其全身生物利用率也很低，但EGCG在肠粘膜有很高的浓度。为了研究口服EGCG是否对溃疡性结肠炎UC有效，为此来自美国路易斯维尔大学的GeraldW等人进行了一项研究，结果发表在8月Inflammatory Bowel Diseases上。【原文下载】

这项随机、双盲、安慰剂对照试验研究，共纳入20名UC患者，按4:1的比例随机分为口服EGCG和安慰剂组。19名患者接受至少1次以上治疗（15例EGCG，4例安慰剂），其中EGCG组每天服用400或800mgEGCG。最后在第56天时应用UC活动度评分和IBD问卷进行评估治疗效果。

研究发现，EGCG组和安慰剂组的UC活动度评分分别为6.5±1.9和7.3±1.7。治疗56天后，EGCG和安慰剂组的治疗反应率分别为66.7%（10/15)和0%（0/4)，缓解率分别为53.5%（5/15)和0%（0/4）。EGCG治疗后仅有轻微的副反应如恶心、头痛等。

研究认为，应用EGCG治疗那些对5-氨基水杨酸或者硫唑嘌呤治疗反应差的患者有效，这将为轻-中度溃疡性结肠炎患者提供一个新的治疗选择，但是还需要进一步研究确定。
