本研究建立一种可靠的诊断方法来鉴别骨髓浸润的血管免疫母细胞性t细胞淋巴瘤。研究人员分析了42个配对的淋巴结和骨髓样本的形态浸润模式和T滤泡辅助细胞标记物的表达，并应用比较克隆性检测。此外，还在健康、反应性改变和其他影响骨髓的对照队列中研究了BCL6和PD-1的表达。

研究结果确定了与总生存率相关的3种不同的骨髓浸润模式（有无嗜酸性粒细胞浸润的间质/微结节浸润和有嗜酸性粒细胞浸润的弥漫性浸润）。配对显示PD-1和BCL6的（共）表达一致，在骨髓中的表达通常比在淋巴结中的表达弱。 比较群体性测试仅在少数情况下有用。 最重要的鉴别诊断浸润液中含有PD-1或BCL6阳性的肿瘤浸润细胞，但没有共表达细胞。

研究表明，骨髓浸润血管免疫母细胞淋巴瘤显示3种不同的模式与预后相关。BCL6和PD-1可可靠地用于淋巴瘤浸润的鉴别和排除多种鉴别诊断。比较克隆试验提供很少额外的价值，不能取代形态学和表型分析。
