CureVac近日报道了COVID-19候选疫苗的临床前结果，结果显示，该候选疫苗能够在低剂量下快速诱导免疫反应以及高水平的病毒中和效价。CureVac解释说，在新型冠状病毒的基因组序列公布后，公司就对基于刺突蛋白的多种潜在抗原构建体进行了免疫原性检测，并进行了临床前测试。该公司打算在六月开始在健康志愿者中对其COVID-19候选疫苗进行I / IIa期临床试验。

根据CureVac的说法，COVID-19候选疫苗的大量材料已经在德国制造工厂生产。该制药商指出，该工厂的制造能力很高，每年可提供数亿剂疫苗。

CureVac与流行病预防创新联盟（CEPI）合作开发了这款针对COVID-19的候选疫苗。CureVac还获得了比尔和梅琳达·盖茨基金会以及美国国防部国防高级研究计划局（DARPA）提供的财政支持。
