癌症是一种基因突变疾病,表现出高度的遗传异质性。除了克服这种异质性,根除癌细胞同时保留非癌细胞仍然是一项艰巨的任务,因此,开发能够结合多种癌症类型的泛抗癌药物一直是一个挑战。 我们的先天免疫系统可以抵御多种感染性病原体,这些病原体的遗传变异远远超过癌症。作为先天免疫的关键效应器,中性粒细胞可以消除遗传异质的病原体,当人体出现感染或炎症时,中性粒细胞就会聚集在有炎症的地方开始吞噬细胞和细菌,帮助机体抵御感染等疾病的发生。并且其在癌症中具有类似的功能,然而,中性粒细胞杀死癌细胞的机制还不完全清楚。 相对于中性粒细胞的抗癌功能,许多研究表明中性粒细胞也能促进肿瘤的发生。这种冲突可能是由于中性粒细胞功能和/或其组织来源和激活状态的物种差异造成的。 近日,美国芝加哥大学的研究团队在国际顶尖学术期刊 Cell 上发表了题为:Neutrophil elastase selectively kills cancer cells and attenuates tumorigenesis 的研究论文。 研究团队发现,中性粒细胞弹性蛋白酶ELANE可以杀死遗传多样性不同的癌细胞,并且对非癌细胞的毒性极小,这
