研究人员发现，在使用Fl - RSV疫苗之前，使用含有病毒的病毒颗粒含有RSV融合蛋白，并将小鼠暴露在RSV中，从而避免了FI-RSV疫苗增强的肺部炎症和对嗜酸性粒细胞的侵袭，这是一种对抗疾病的白细胞。

FI-RSV疫苗接种导致的ERD中80％的患者住院，其中两名儿童死亡。 其特征在于气道产生粘液，严重的肺部炎症，T辅助细胞 2型（Th2）细胞的免疫应答以及嗜酸性粒细胞渗入呼吸道内层。

"我们证明，用呈递RSV融合蛋白的病毒样颗粒引发小鼠免疫应答转移从而预防ERD的发生。一种预防ERD的保护性先天性和适应性免疫反应的疫苗仍有待开发，但是我们的研究结果可能为创建具有这些功能的安全疫苗铺平了道路。"

研究人员用不同的方法作用于对照鼠和两组免疫小鼠。在接受FI-RSV疫苗之前，免疫小鼠接受了两种引物中的一种。一组小鼠接种了FI-RSV疫苗，然后给予FI-RSV增强。另一组首先用含有RSV融合蛋白的疫苗样颗粒预处理，然后给予FI-RSV加强。免疫接种三周后采集血液样本。

15周后，从两免疫组和对照组小鼠的小鼠感染RSV确定预防RSV疗效评估ERD。监测体重变化，收集支气管肺泡灌洗液进行病毒滴度测定，并取肺组织进行组织学和细胞分析。

这项研究结果发表在《Virology》杂志上。
