在胚胎发育过程中，Mg2 +浓度在从胚胎第13.5天（E13.5）到E15.5的早期富集，但在E15.5之后的后期逐渐降低至稳定状态。适当浓度的Mg2 +可以促进骨髓间充质干细胞的矿化，而过量的Mg2 +则损害其成骨作用。 Mg2 +加入得越早，观察到的矿化抑制作用越强。特别是，与完全矿化的胶原蛋白相比，完全矿化的胶原蛋白中存在的Mg2 +更少。此外，高浓度的Mg2 +会改变HA的晶体形态，并抑制胶原钙化。从功能上讲，高Mg2 +饮食会抑制小鼠后代的骨骼生物矿化。两者合计，结果表明，随着时间的流逝，适当调节Mg2 +的浓度对于正常生物矿化至关重要。

总之，这项研究对于与Mg2 +含量相关的骨替代物和植入物的未来设计具有重要意义。
