有许多未经证实的因素有可能影响着根尖周炎(AP)的愈合。这篇队列研究的目的是为了分析随访期间AP愈合过程与摄入他汀类药物之间的联系。研究纳入了自述在进行非手术根管治疗或再治疗期间服用和未服用他汀类药物的患者。所有患者均是因根尖周X线透射影像于马里兰大学齿科学院(2011-2014)的研究生牙髓病诊所就诊的患者，在治疗后随访时间为2到5年。使用根尖指标(PAI)判断愈合与否。由2名指定的不知是否服用他汀类药物的牙髓病医师对疗效进行评估。采用Fisher exact检验分析他汀类药物摄入与牙髓治疗愈合(ie， healed [PAI 1-2]/not healed [PAI 3-5])之间的联系。采用Logistic回归分析探讨他汀类药物摄入与治疗效果之间的联系，并受到以下混合变量的调控：糖尿病、心血管疾病和吸烟，置信区间为95%。有60例病例纳入了最后的分析，其中包含30名服用他汀类药物的患者以及30名未服药的对照患者。Fisher exact检验结果显示，服用他汀类药物的患者在2年或更长的随访期间的愈合情况要明显优于对照组(93.0% vs 70%； Fisher exact test
