理想的心血管健康（CVH）与较低的糖尿病风险相关。然而，尚不清楚这种关联在血糖水平上是否与（正常[<5.6 mmol / l]vs空腹血糖受损[IFG] [5.6-6.9 mmol / l]）相似。

对卒中(REGARDS)研究中地理和种族差异的原因进行了二次数据分析。在基线(2003年至2007年)对7758名无糖尿病的参与者进行了9.5年以上的事件糖尿病评估。基线胆固醇、血压、饮食、吸烟、体育活动和BMI被用来根据理想CVH成分的数量(0,1,2,3和4)对参与者进行分类。风险比(RRs)计算采用修正泊松回归校正心血管风险因素。

结果显示，空腹血糖正常(n = 6004)的4对0 1个理想CVH成分的参与者风险降低80% (RR 0.20;95% CI 0.10, 0.37)，而基线IFG (n = 1754)的参与者风险降低13% (RR 0.87;95% CI 0.58, 1.30(基线血糖状态下相互作用p <0.0001)。此外，理想CVH成分与较低糖尿病风险的相关性在白人中强于非裔美国人(p = 0.0338)。

对于空腹血糖正常而非IFG的参与者，更多数量的理想CVH成分与剂量依赖性较低的糖尿病风险相关。为了原始预防糖尿病，需要根据种族和血糖水平考虑观察到的差异而量身定制方案。
