研究人员对过敏性症状进行了评估来鉴定青蒿素单独使用或者组合翼管神经切除对AR的影响。研究人员通过ELISA测量了血清组胺、免疫球蛋白E(lgE)和炎症因子TNF, INF-γ, IL-1β IL-10, IL-4和IL-5的水平。另外,研究人员通过RT-qPCR测量了TNF, INF-γ, IL-1β和IL-10在局部淋巴结中的mRNA水平,还通过蛋白免疫印迹评估了ERK和JNK的总的磷酸化水平。,利用流式细胞术分析了CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T (Treg)细胞。研究发现,青蒿素能够显著的减轻AR小鼠的行为症状。青蒿素的注射能够明显的抑制组胺、lgE和炎症因子的表达。另外,青蒿素单独处理组能够增加Treg细胞比例和抑制ERK磷酸化。更多的是,青蒿素加翼管神经切除几乎消除了AR小鼠行为得分的增加。

最后,研究人员指出,他们的结果表明了青蒿素通过ERK激活和Treg细胞比例的增加具有抗过敏性的作用,并且随后能够减少过敏性调控因子的表达。另外,青蒿素结合翼管神经切除表现出了比单独使用青蒿素更好的治疗效果。
