最近,研究人员观察到,暴露在类似冬季的环境中的鳉鱼的社交能力下降,焦虑样行为增加。全脑代谢组学分析发现68种代谢物的季节性变化,包括与抑郁症相关的神经递质和抗氧化剂。转录组分析发现了3,306个不同表达的转录本,包括炎症标志物、黑素蛋白和昼夜节律基因。

进一步的分析发现了抑郁症中的多种信号传导途径的季节性变化,包括核因子红细胞衍生-2样(NRF2)抗氧化途径。

一项广谱化学筛查发现,塞拉斯特罗(一种中药)能够独特地逆转冬季行为。NRF2是一种在大脑脑膜(HB)中表达的celastrol靶点,已知其在抑郁症的病理生理学中起着关键作用。另一种NRF2化学激活剂也表现出类似的效应,而NRF2突变体表现出社交能力下降。

因此,本研究为冬季抑郁症提供了重要的见解,并提供了涉及NRF2的潜在治疗靶点。
