牙周炎可能会加重动脉粥样硬化的发生与发展，并且2种疾病的致病机理可能存在着一定的双向作用。这篇研究的目的是在Wistar大鼠体内通过饮食诱导高胆固醇血症和通过结扎诱导牙周炎，并探讨2种条件之间的相互作用。

研究将实验动物分为4个实验组：C (control： 标准饮食无牙周炎)， Perio (牙周炎+标准饮食)， HC (高胆固醇饮食无牙周炎)和HC+Perio (高胆固醇饮食+牙周炎)。实验动物饲养45天，在第34天的Perio和HC-Perio组通过结扎丝线结扎大鼠下颌第一磨牙并持续11天后安乐死所有实验动物。提取下颌骨，通过肉眼及？-CT影像观察牙槽骨缺失情况。获取血液样本，通过二磷酸腺苷（ADP）和胶原蛋白在富含血小板的血浆中诱导血小板聚集。提取动脉样本，分析内皮依赖性的血管反应并评估内皮（eNOS），磷酸化内皮（peNOS）和诱导型（iNOS）一氧化氮合酶蛋白的表达。

结果显示，与其他组相比，HC+Perio组的牙槽骨缺失明显增加。在Perio和HC组中，ADP诱导的血小板凝集和胶原增加，而乙酰胆碱诱导的动脉松弛最大化降低。单独的牙周炎和HC饮食减少peNOS的表达，而HC饮食增加iNOS的表达。相反，当2种条件联合时(HC + Perio group)，对于血管的反应性或者血小板凝集未发现额外或协同效应。

结论：高胆固醇血症能够加速牙周炎的骨缺损进程，而高胆固醇饮食或牙周炎分别增加大鼠的血小板凝集以及血管的反应性，但当2者联合时没有额外的或者协同作用发生。
