研究人员证明,PGC-1α过表达以雌激素相关受体α依赖性方式改善线粒体动力学和钙缓冲。

此外,研究人员还表明,肌浆网应激被PGC-1α减弱。因此,PGC-1α防止衰老肌肉中的管状聚集体形成和细胞死亡途径激活。

类似地,神经酰胺和毒胡萝卜素的促细胞凋亡作用被肌细胞中的PGC-1α钝化。因此,具有肌肉特异性PGC-1α功能获得和功能丧失的小鼠分别表现出延迟和过早的衰老表型。

总之,这些数据揭示了PGC-1α对衰老过程中肌肉功能和整体健康跨度的关键保护作用。
