最近,有研究人员利用RNA测序(RNA-Seq)来辨别与健康的中耳上皮(MEE)相比,OME相关的细胞学变化

研究人员从5名诊断为OME的进行鼓室造口置管小儿患者和5名接受人工耳蜗植入的小儿患者中收集了中耳上皮细胞。研究结果表明,与对照组相比,共有1292个基因在MEE中表现出差异表达,包括涉及炎症、对细菌性OM病原体的免疫反应、黏液纤毛清除、增殖和转化的调控以及听觉细胞分化的基因。OME中鉴定的上游途径是机体损伤和异常、细胞形态和听觉疾病。鉴定的上游Ingenuity典型途径为轴突引导信号,其中包含与听觉发育和疾病有关的基因以及尼古丁降解II和III路径。相关的上游调节因子包括β-雌二醇、地塞米松和G-蛋白偶联雌激素受体-1(GPER1),这些与损伤期间的耳保护或炎症有关。

最后,研究人员指出,与健康对照组相比,OME患者的MEE存在差异基因表达,这对感染的易感性、听力损失以及烟草暴露在儿科患者OME的发展和/或严重程度中的作用有重要意义
