目前认为,使用牙刷(TB),牙线(DF)和牙间刷(IDB)是牙周健康的基本自我保健方法。但很少有证据表明其对牙周健康的有效性。本研究旨在评估TB,DF,IDB对牙周健康的效应。在2010年和2012年选取19岁以上的4,766名韩国成年人进行横断面调查。牙周健康被定义为社区牙周指数1-2的为牙龈炎和3-4为牙周炎。有关变量的信息来自访谈和血液分析。应用多变量logistic回归分析以及TB和邻面清洁(PC:DF和/或IDB)之间的相互作用。结果发现,每天使用牙刷三次及以上和DF与牙周炎患病率降低44%相关,而DF对牙龈炎的预防率为30%。40-59岁年龄组中,每天使用TB三次或以上与PC之间的相互作用的预防分数为牙周炎78%和牙龈炎68%。结论:牙刷和PC与牙周健康独立相关。因此,牙周医师应每天推荐三次以上的TB和PC,如DF和IDB,以促进牙周健康。原始出处:Jung-Hoo Lee, et al.
