研究人员发现,203个石蜡包埋膀胱癌组织免疫组化染色结果表明Kindlin-2表达和晚期阶段、高级阶段和膀胱癌复发相关。Kaplan-Meier 生存分析表明,那些表现为高表达Kindlin-2的病人的生存期比那些Kindlin-2低表达的病人的生存期更短(p<0.01)。多变量分析阐释了高Kindlin-2表达会导致膀胱癌较差的预后。另外,研究人员利用从人类膀胱癌组织中分离的癌症相关的纤维母细胞(CAFs),观察到了Kindlin-2的敲除降低的CAFs的激活,并导致了α-平滑肌动蛋白丝(α-SMA)和细胞外基质纤维连接蛋白表达的降低。Kindlin-2抑制同样也能减少CAF诱导的膀胱癌细胞转移和侵入。更多的是,研究人员还发现了Kindlin-2可以激活CAFs并且通过刺激TGF-β诱导的上皮-间质转变来促进膀胱癌细胞的侵入。最后,研究人员指出,这些结果支持了Kindlin-2和相关的激活的CAFs可以作为膀胱癌治疗疗法中的靶点。
